- Rashid wins all three races and sets fastest lap in the IAME Cadet Class
- Youngest driver takes home the biggest trophy from the Kartdrome
Rashid Al Dhaheri, the UAE’s most exciting young karting star, took home a convincing victory in the first official IAME X30 UAE championship race at the Dubai Kartdrome on 4 November.
The Emirati school boy took home the winners’ trophy with a dominant display in the Cadet Class (8 – 12 year olds) featuring drivers from UAE, South Africa, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, France and the UK.
Rashid started his race weekend covering approximately 200 km in testing at a hot and humid Kartdrome in preparation for race day. In qualifying he was hampered by back-markers during his final flying lap, but managed to qualify in 2nd place overall.
In Heat 1, Rashid made a good start and took the lead almost immediately. Thereafter he set the pace at the front, increasing the gap over second place with each lap and crossed the finish line 7.285 seconds ahead of 2nd place, setting the fastest lap in the process and the tone for the rest of the day.
Young Rashid powered to victory, in a similar manner, in both the Pre-Final and again in the Final setting the fastest lap in both races, a comfortable 5.5 seconds ahead of 2nd place.
Team manager Italian Fausto Ippoliti said: “It was not an easy race day for Rashid, who was the youngest driver in the field and even though he started on the outside in Heat 1, he put in an almost flawless performance, taking an early lead and staying there until the end.”
“The rest of the day was a great racing experience for Rashid in terms of race management, staying focused and maintaining a good gap over his rivals while taking care of his engine at the same time. He ticked all the boxes from lap one to the chequered flag. Great racing,” added Ippoliti.
